Working hard at a rewarding job can make you hungry! For great eats, the Monadnock Region has it all. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, or a snack on the go—you can’t go wrong grabbing a bite around here. When starting your day or a new job, bringing a round of killer maple lattes to your co-workers is always a win! Parker and Son’s Roasting in Peterborough will get your work day started with a bang.

Fiddleheads Cafe in Hancock, NH offers lovely outdoor dining (or catering) coupled with filling homemade sandwiches. Del Rossi’s Trattoria in Dublin, NH is hands-down the most mouthwatering homemade pasta you can find and it’s the perfect place to celebrate TGIF with your co-workers after a long week.

For a relaxed Sunday brunch in an artistic atmosphere that will fill you up until dinner, try The Stage Restaurant located at the center of downtown Keene. Or if you need to get something to bring back to the office, Kristin’s Bistro and Bakery offers curbside pick up without sacrificing that warm flakey goodness of homemade baked goods. Meeting over lunch? Many locals frequent The Elm City Brewing Company, where scrumptious pub fare meets flights of trendy brews.

Shopping in the Region

The 40 towns and villages that surround Mount Monadnock offer some fantastic shopping opportunities. One of the best things about shopping here is how much of the goods are produced locally. Hannah Grimes Marketplace in Keene, NH brings a whopping 240 local vendors into one convenient shop, highlighting the region’s handmade producers from woodworkers and glassblowers to blacksmiths and florists. This penchant for supporting neighbors and the local economy can be felt throughout the region’s historic downtowns.

This part of New Hampshire is also well-known for unique antique stores, the original upcycling. Bowerbird and Friends in downtown Peterborough has gorgeous arrangements of distinctive treasures, exotic indoor house plants, and delightful trinkets. Planning a little shopping excursion with your coworkers is a perfect opportunity to network and get to know each other.

Farm Fresh Flavor

With a thriving market for locally produced goods and fresh food, the Monadnock Region is a genuine food oasis. CSAs, farm stands, farmers markets and grocery stores all offer great varieties of quality locally grown products. The Monadnock Food Co-op in Keene offers diverse, delicious deli food as well as groceries and specializes in local, fair trade, sustainably made products. At the Keene Farmer’s Market, you will find veggies and fruit in abundance plus all the rest: dairy, meat, eggs, canned goods, maple products, baked goods and crafted art like jewelry, furniture and soap.

Farmers Market

Tracie’s Community Farm in Fitzwilliam is one of the region’s well-known producers of local crops with good reason. The farm sits on prime agricultural soil, rare in New Hampshire, and the fruits of their labor are evident in every bite. And here’s another reason people love working in the Monadnock Region. Many offices even join together to share a CSA basket or integrate a seasonal share into their lunch offerings!

Meeting People, Making Friends

In Monadnock, there’s a strong sense of community. Volunteerism is often something that brings co-workers together through teamwork and the great feeling of giving back. Devoted to sustaining better lives for everyone in the region, getting involved with an organization like Monadnock United Way is an excellent way to network while building a stronger community. Outdoor Recreation

The Monadnock Region also offers an enormous variety of outdoor recreation for any season, but it’s no secret that autumn is one of the best. With its unbelievable foliage, fall is an opportune time to get outside.

The fresh lakes have great local beaches and spots for kayaking, fishing, or swimming. Biking, horseback riding and running are also great ways to slow life down and enjoy the Granite State’s scenic vistas.

But It’s not fair to discuss great recreation in New Hampshire without mentioning wintertime. From fantastic downhill ski areas to manicured cross-country miles or backwoods snowshoeing to sunny days ice fishing, locals never let winter get in the way of fun.
