The season of gratitude is upon us once again, and Masiello Employment Services is feeling tremendously grateful to live and work in a region that puts the well-being of its community members first. It’s in caring for one another that meaningful conversations are had, empathy is built, appreciation gained, and relationships formed.
Connections Make Strong Communities
Caring for community can be as simple as a smile shared, supporting a local maker instead of a big box store, or even as fun as attending a community event and making a new friend. At Masiello, this month – and every month – we’re thankful for our community and our network of amazing businesses and professionals. Thank you for being a part of our little corner of the world!
Cultivating a strong community means making regular commitments to it. It means reinvesting in the economy. It means spending time getting to know the individuals around us. And when you do, you may find you get back even more than you give.
A Leader in Community Connections
If you’re looking for ways to get connected in the Monadnock Region, the Greater Keene and Peterborough Chamber of Commerce (GKPCC) is a great resource for all things local. Whether it’s shopping small businesses, eating farm-grown food, finding authentic New England lodging, or checking out beautiful area attractions, they have it all in one convenient location.
In particular, Masiello is excited about the teasers we’ve seen of the Chamber’s brand-new regional branding initiative created to celebrate the unique character found here in the Monadnock Region. The goal is to encourage “young people to establish roots here, and new people to visit, live, learn and work in the Monadnock Region.” Now that’s a mission we can get behind 100 percent! Can’t wait to hear more details about this exciting project.
Trendy Community Connections
The Local Crowd (TLC) Monadnock is another forward-thinking group working to strengthen our community in the Monadnock Region. They’re helping local businesses grow with local crowdfunding campaigns, like the one behind Plaid Friday, Small Business Saturday, Cider Monday and Giving Tuesday. Each of these fun local days helps people avoid the shopping frenzy of Black Friday and instead soak up the joy of the season.
If you’re not already familiar, Giving Tuesday in particular is a great chance for companies to give back while making connections. You might consider volunteering for the day or donating to a non-profit that’s making a big impact in the community. Do you have a favorite one to support?
Keep your dollars local and they come back to you much faster and more efficiently. According to TLC Monadnock, “four times more money returns to our local economy than if you spend that same dollar at a chain store.” Plus, supporting a local gift shop, restaurant, farm stand, artisan, non profit, or service puts smiles on the faces of your neighbors and friends. So, do yourself a favor and get your local on!
Together with the American Independent Business Alliance (AMIBA), TLC Monadnock is making the region a festive place to be during the Shop Indie Local Season. So get your plaid on, get out there, and make the most of the season!
Ways To Connect & Show Gratitude
There are so many ways to share your gratitude for the thriving local scene we have here. When you’re planning your presents this season, give a gift card to a locally owned shop or restaurant. Or a one-of-a-kind gift crafted by a local artisan. There are tons of craft shows and events at this time of year with holiday gift ideas, holiday home decor, and handmade items to enjoy.
Share local flavors over the holiday feast by bringing a dish packed full of locally grown or produced mouthwatering edibles. You can find everything you need for your holiday table at the annual Stonewall Farm Fare November 18 & 19.
And if you’re looking to make special memories with the family this holiday season, check out the crafting and heritage craft classes at The Craft School Mill Hollow Works in Keene. Learn something new from a local expert and maybe just unlock a passion you haven’t discovered yet.
Or if you love the outdoors and have been enjoying the incredible weather, wave hello to neighbors while you hit the rail trail, climb a nearby peak, or simply stroll the park. Sharing our incredible green spaces is part of what makes the Monadnock Region so unique!
