Recently, this post on our favorite places to go glamping in New Hampshire and Maine made many of you very happy campers. So, this week we’re shifting back into vacation mode – which wasn’t difficult, considering it is still summer – with a focus on another must-try travel experience: vacationing in a barn.

Wait. Before you roll your eyes. We get it. Since we hail from the Monadnock Region of New Hampshire, much of the rolling farmland that surrounds us is dotted with old barns – specifically, the utilitarian type with faded paint, tired roofs, and an aversion to right angles. Rest assured, those aren’t the kinds of barns we’re talking about! Instead, imagine rural settings with modern design, considered interiors, and unique features. In other words, think home-ified barns.

Hoping you’re sufficiently intrigued, we at Masiello Employment are revealing a few barn rentals around New Hampshire (and Vermont) where you can raise the bar on your vacations. While we admit that many of these involve a bit of a drive, we’d love to hear about local barns that you can stay in!

Here we go:

1799 Barn, Chester, VT: within walking distance to the charming downtown area of Chester, VT this completely restored barn from 1799 offers the quintessential Vermont experience. And at just 28 miles from Keene – is an easy drive!

The Barn, Wolfeboro: a vision in a woodland setting with views across Rust Pond, with a massive stone fireplace, soaring ceilings, and fun details like a vintage shuffleboard table.

Barn Retreat, Eliot: the renovated apartment within this barn delights with artistic touches featuring cedar harvested on the property, from a handcrafted banister to a duo of trunks flanking the shower.

The Renovated Barn, Colebrook: this post-and-beam gem is old-world chic with colorful accessories, pleasures like heated concrete floors, and delights like a wooden swing just off the kitchen.

Stunning Farmhouse, Durham: a beautifully restored treasure, with lots of space, elegant yet inviting decor, and a chef’s dream kitchen – technically not a barn, there is a barn included, so it counts.

Barn Guest House: Littleton: this studio covers the second floor of a gambrel-style barn and keeps all the essentials within reach, from a bed and kitchen (standard) to a pool table to gym equipment (sweet).

We at Masiello Employment are here to help you raise the bar on your search for the perfect job. Give us a call today; our recruiting team is available for a free consultation.
