It appears that everyone loved our listing of local farms and farm activities in last week’s blog, so we wanted to keep the momentum going and talk about some of our other favorite activities in the area. And while Masiello Employment is based in big-city Keene – we cover a wide range of geographical regions including Massachusetts and Vermont, too! In other words, we are bigger than you might think! So, keep that in mind and let us know if you have any additions to our list that may fall outside of the more well-known stomping grounds – we like to think we get around but know there are tons of terrific places out and about in our region. Send any suggestions our way and we will be happy to add them!

Here are a few of our favorites:

Orchard Hill Breadworks, East Alstead, NH – More than a bakery, OHB is a gathering place where people come to enjoy the rural setting, celebrate, and share meals community style. They host “Pizza Nights” every Tuesday throughout the summer, with all proceeds supporting a different non-profit. The best part? They have donated more than $40,000 to over 30 different groups. Good food for a great cause! Plus, don’t miss their annual “Harvest Fire” – a fall celebration with live music and a massive community cauldron of soup.

Stuart and John’s Sugar House and Restaurant, Westmoreland, NH – Stuart and John’s are known for more than just their sweet maple treats, they run a Summer Car Cruise Night series from Memorial Day through Labor Day, every Thursday Night from 6:00-8:00PM. And, they have been doing so since 2006. It’s a great way to get out with the family and free of charge. Plus, there is #maplesyrup, raffles and play areas for the kids!

Aldworth Manor, Harrisville, NH – This fantastic property boasts 170 acres of beautiful New Hampshire wilderness, and are widely known for their incredible wedding and event hosting capabilities. However, they also have a ton of public-facing events ranging from arts and concerts to Yoga and other activities, all of which can be seen here. They have public nights every Monday and Thursday, so you have no need to worry about what’s happening. Just head on over to the Manor and surprise yourself!

Walpole Mountain View Winery, Walpole, NH – Yes, Virginia, you can grow grapes and make world-class wines here in Northern New England! Walpole Winery has been operational since owner Virginia Carter and her family planted the first 250 vines in 2004, and offer weekend tastings, wines for purchase, and a fall harvest celebration. They were even featured on NH Chronicle! Be sure to check their fall hours and drop by to experience a real New Hampshire winery experience.

Kringle Candle, Bernardston, MA – More than just a retail shop, Kringle Candle has developed a loyal following for their local Cars and Coffee events showcasing classic and vintage automobiles with freshly brewed caffeinated beverages! Two shows remain in 2019, the first on Sunday, September 8 and the last on October 13th. Bring along your classic ride and help the crowd vote for their favorites!

We want everyone to love where they live and make it a point to share our favorite experiences. If you need help finding staff or are looking for a position of your own in the Monadnock Region, the Masiello Employment Services recruiting team is here for you!
