Well, once again, folks, it’s that time of year: #pickletime.
Of course, we’re talking about the 22nd annual Winchester New Hampshire Picklefest, a yearly tradition in the Monadnock Region devoted to the proper celebration of all things pickles. And the gang from Masiello Employment Services will be there! Just look for us at the red “Masiello” canopy on our booth and stop by to say hi – and bring pickles! We will be chatting with folks about jobs and the services we offer as well as handing out balloons to the kids. We also have a terrific fall-themed gift basket to raffle off so be sure and drop in to chat as you search for the perfect pickle.
So, what is Picklefest?
Picklefest was started to celebrate the Polish heritage of Winchester, NH by resident Gary O’Neal some 20 years back and is still an annual tradition today. We’ve blogged about it before (and we most certainly will again) because it’s just such a fun, low key little event.
It’s a free, family-friendly affair offering plenty of pickle popcorn, a public pickle parade, and of course, plenty of pickles. And new for 2019 – there’s a pre-pickle-pre-party!! On Friday night there will be a sweet (and sour) bonfire at the E.L.M.M Center with Live Music from Version Six, lawn games, with local food trucks dishing out treats from B.S. Smoking Sauces & BBQ and Kona Ice of NH! Arrive at 6PM, music starts at 7. This flyer from the Picklefest Facebook says it all (rain or shine).
Then, after a few winks, it is onto Saturday – the big day. We look forward to the Winchester Farmer’s Market which kicks off Picklefest, with local goods for sale starting at 10 AM. From their Facebook page:
“We will be featuring products from The Boiling Point (Maple Syrup) Handmade breads and pastries from Kernel Bakery & veggies from Picadilly Farm! Cheshire Floral Farm will have tons of plants of every variety!! Also excited to welcome back August Cottage, Tie-Tie Totes, Kat’s Creations, Lip Smacking’ Great Goodies, Primitives Candles & Joannes Jams! Come check out their jams, jewelry, soap & delicious scented candles. Come and celebrate pickles with us!!”
Once you’ve had your fill of local goods at the farmer’s market, you can then move onto picklefest proper where guests can roam freely sampling all types of food and fun – and pickles. Lots of pickles. Lots of FREE pickles! And come on over and visit the Masiello Employment Services team, too.
So, join us in this 20-year-old tradition get pickled! We look forward to sharing some hometown New Hampshire spirit with all who may be attending.
When and Where: Saturday, Sept 28, 2019 – Winchester NH. Free parking, free to participate in, free pickles. It’s a big…DILL.
