Now that it is officially fall, we can shake off the remains of summer beach days and get to the serious business of celebrating Autumn in New England. Cool air, short days, ripe apples, and of course – decorative gourds! All sizes and shapes of pumpkins and squash thrive here, as does corn, and even better – corn mazes, both haunted and kid-friendly! We have many fall rites of passage such as PYO apples, farm-stand hopping, cider donuts, and hot mulled cider. The very act of experiencing an authentic New England ‘Indian Summer’ is simply a bucket list item. It is an incredible time of year.
The team at Masiello Employment thought it prudent to remind you about everything this region has to offer come autumn! For example, we have the upcoming Monadnock Art Tour scheduled for Columbus Day Weekend. And, let’s not forget apple picking season! Not only is our backyard here in Western New Hampshire an area of physical beauty, it has quite an exciting micro economy all its own. Stay, Work, Play, for example, helps spread the message that our little slice of the Granite State, known formally as the Monadnock Region, is just as fresh as the rest of the state. Their mission is to attract and retain workers, particularly young people, into our economy. Their guest bloggers inject a little humor into the local pastime known as Orchard-hopping, by providing advice for this must do activity.
Here are some great farms and orchards to check out while you are visiting!
And there are plenty more to choose from, just check out Discover Monadnock for further ideas. Be sure to quench your thirst and take a break at Walpole Mountain View Winery – this family owned and operated winery has a bucolic setting, some great wines to sample (using grape varieties that thrive in our cold climates) and New Hampshire wine available to take with you on your journey.
And though it goes entirely without saying, this is the time for peak, picture perfect fall foliage. Get those Instagram apps ready! Our beloved “Leaf Peepers” unite each year around this time to take long leisurely drives through Vermont and New Hampshire to see the beautiful colors mother nature sets out for us. It is rumored to be a short season from lack of rains, but one never knows what can happen.
So join us! Drop in for a visit or consider locating your home or business to our area and find out just what you have been missing. And when you do, remember that Masiello Employment has very deep roots – literally decades of experience – working with local employers and job seekers. We will be here when you are ready to tackle even the toughest employment challenges!
